• Prof. Dr. Klaus Steigleder, born 1959 in Frankfurt/M., is professor for applied ethics at the Institute of Philosophy I, Ruhr-University Bochum.
• 1991: doctoral dissertation, title: „The Justification of the Moral Imperative. Studies Concerning the Possibility of a Normative Ethics" (written in german, title: „Die Begründung des moralischen Sollens. Studien zur Möglichkeit einer normativen Ethik“).
• 2001: habilitation, title: "The Self-Referentiality of Pure Practical Reason. An Interpretation of Kants Moral Philosophy" (written in german, title: „Die Selbstbezüglichkeit reiner praktischer Vernunft. Eine Interpretation von Kants Moralphilosophie“).
• From 1986 - 1993 he was the scientific coordinator and executive vice director of the International Center for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities, University of Tuebingen, which he established together with Dietmar Mieth.
• From 1993-2002 he acted as fellow, assistant and associate professor of philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy, University of Stuttgart.
• 2002-2009: Professor for Ethics in Medicine and the Life Sciences at the Institute of Philosophy, Ruhr-University Bochum. Since 2009 professor for applied ethics.
• 2008-2011: chair of the doctoral candidates programme philosophy.
• 2008 - 2010: dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Science at the Ruhr-University Bochum.
• Since 2012: director (together with C. Mieth) of the interdisciplinary masters program "Ethics - Economics, Law, and Politics".
• Since 2015: Setup of the research unit "Climate, Energy, Ethics" at the Institute of Philosophy I.
• Since 2016: Member of the board of the Research Department "Closed Carbon Cycle Economy" at RUB.
• June 2016: Visiting professor at the Institute of Philosophy, University of Graz.
• married to teacher Angela Steigleder (b. Stüer), two daughters (Susanne, *1996; Edith, *1998)
