Description

The transfer of new scientific knowledge to society is becoming increasingly important. However, it is often difficult, especially for students, to understand and classify these scientific findings. One reason for this is that the presentation of scientific findings is often focused solely on the research results without any explanation of the research process. The aim of authentic science education is to promote an appropriate understanding of scientific ways of thinking and working. The interdisciplinary project VideT aims to develop a video-based transfer tool. Together with the research results, it provides insights into the scientific knowledge process. The aim of the sub-project of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum is the investigation of the perception of authenticity of science transfer in relation to the information presented in the videos. Furthermore, the accuracy of students' self-assessment of their performance in a scientific thinking test will be investigated. The transfer tool will be prototypically tested with 10th grade students.

VideT is a joint project of the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), the Leibniz-Instituts für Zoo- und Wildtierforschung (IZW) in Berlin, the Leibniz-Institut für die Pädagogik der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik (IPN) in Kiel in cooperation with the Leibniz-Universität Hannover (LUH) and the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) in Tübingen.
