Forschendes Lehren am Institut II

Idea

This initiative of the Institute of Philosophy II adds original research-based learning schemes to existing teaching measures in philosophy. Excellent interdisciplinary research is combined with research-linked teaching.
This initiative is combined with a Fellowship program.

Structure

Researchers at the Institute of Philosophy II foster students’ abilities to apprehend state-of-the-art research by interacting with internationally acclaimed researchers. Students develop original ideas and learn to present them in English in front of a professional audience. International and interdisciplinary workshops form the core of this initiative. In preceding and subsequent seminar sessions students prepare initial reading, discuss central claims and arguments, and develop presentations individually or in groups.

Advanced students actively learn to engage with and critically assess state-of-the-art research by interacting with researchers themselves.
Students and Philosophers at Ruhr-Universität can establish or intensify existing collaborations with international researchers.
