Minimum scope of the internship

Domestic/ within Germany:

Full-time, 6 weeks (240 hours) - continuous, 30 working days of 8 hours each.

Abroad:

Full-time, minimum 4 weeks (160 hours*).

*The shorter required duration of an internship abroad takes into account the increased workload in advance for research, visa formalities if applicable, accommodation, etc. etc. A shorter period cannot be granted if the internship is carried out in the student's country of citizenship, as in this case it is assumed that the student has comparable language and infrastructure skills.

Note: Part-time internship

In individual cases it is possible to recognize a part-time internship in Germany or abroad by arrangement. In this case the weekly working time must be at least 8 hours (maximum one year).
