2024

  • On Wednesday, April 24, 12:00-13:00, we will have a Mittelbau meeting to discuss urgent issues concerning academic self-administration and the precarious employment situation in the Mittelbau. The meeting will be hybrid, you can attend either in the FacultyLab in GA 03/33 or via Zoom (send a mail to me or Nils Kürbis for the link).
  • On Wednesday, April 24, from 5:30pm, we will have a Mittelbau social get-together in the Kulturcafé (on campus: https://asta-bochum.de/kulturcafe/). Everyone from the Mittelbau from Fakultät III is welcome to join :-)

2023

  • On Friday, November 24, 12:00-16:00 (s.t.) we held a workshop on "Dealing with structural injustice in university teaching".
  • On Wednesday, November 29, we had a Philosophy-Mittelbau trip to the Bochum Christmas Market.
  • On Wednesday, December 13, from 4-6pm in GABF 04/714 there was another edition of our round table discussion between teachers and students of philosophy.

Hi! I’m Sara and I’m the current representative for the Mittelbau (basically: PhDs and Post-Docs) of the institutes “Philosophy I” and “Philosophy II”. As such, I’m coordinating the communication on relevant issues between the Dekanat and the Mittelbau. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

My tasks:

  • Coordinate the Philosophy Mittelbau's representation in the several committees of our faculty. For an overview of these committees and the representatives, see here: Fakultätsgremien
  • Organize regular meetings for interested members of the Mittelbau to discuss issues related to teaching.
  • Help with on-boarding processes of new staff members belonging to the Mittelbau.
  • Trying to organize at least once per semester a get-together for the Mittelbau to get to know each other and connect with the peers of our faculty.

Please let me know if:

  • You are new at our faculty and have any questions about, e.g., administrative processes (inside or outside the university), about practicalities concerning your teaching duties, about how to get in touch with other people for specific questions; I’m happy to help myself or to get you in touch with others who can be of help.
  • You are interested in participating in one of the committees (it’s easier for everyone if more people share this work; the meetings are usually in German, though).
  • You want to participate in our informal lunch meetings to discuss teaching-related issues.
  • You are interested in helping to set up a social get-together for the Mittelbau.
