Kurzbiographie

Inken Titz ist seit September 2021 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl für Ethik und Philosophie der Emotionen der RUB. Ihre Schwerpunkte in Forschung und Lehre liegen in den Bereichen normative und angewandte Ethik, insbesondere Ethik des moralischen Enhancement und der Künstlichen Intelligenz, Moralpsychologie und Metaethik.

Derzeit arbeitet Inken an einem Projekt zum ‚moralischen Potenzial‘ von moralischem Enhancement mithilfe von Künstlicher Intelligenz. Sie befasst sich damit, wie moralisches Enhancement durch KI aussehen kann. Inwiefern kann es solch moralisches Enhancement geben, das mögliche Vorbedingungen von Moral (z. B. Autonomie oder Authentizität) nicht untergräbt? Führt die Auslagerung moralischer Arbeit an Technologien zu einem Verlust oder möglicherweise einer Steigerung der moralischen Kompetenz von Individuen?

In ihrer Dissertation Why Perspective Matters: The Epistemic Dimension of Right Action verteidigte Inken eine perspektivistische Theorie normativer Gründe und die These, dass richtiges Handeln notwendig von epistemischen Gesichtspunkten abhängt. 

Inken wurde an der LMU München promoviert und war Gastforscherin an der UC Berkeley und der University of Southampton. Sie hat Philosophie und Soziologie an der LMU München und der Fudan Universität (Shanghai) studiert und schloss ihr Studium mit einer Magisterarbeit zur äußeren Freiheit in I. Kants Rechtslehre ab. Inken ist assoziiertes Mitglied der Zurich Epistemology Group on Rationality (Zegra).

Short Bio

Inken Titz has been a research associate at the Chair of Ethics and Philosophy of Emotions at RUB since September 2021. Her research and teaching focuses on normative and applied ethics, especially ethics of moral enhancement and artificial intelligence, moral psychology, and metaethics.

Currently, Inken is working on a project on the 'moral potential' of moral enhancement using Artificial Intelligence. She is concerned with what moral enhancement through AI can look like. To what extent can there be such moral enhancement that does not undermine possible preconditions of morality (e.g. autonomy or authenticity)? Does the outsourcing of moral work to technologies lead to a loss or possibly an enhancement of individuals' moral competence?

In her dissertation Why Perspective Matters: The Epistemic Dimension of Right Action, Inken defended a perspectivist theory of normative reasons and the thesis that right action necessarily depends on epistemic considerations.

Inken received her PhD from LMU Munich and was a visiting researcher at UC Berkeley and the University of Southampton. She studied philosophy and sociology at LMU Munich and Fudan University (Shanghai) and graduated with a master's thesis on external freedom in Kant's Doctrine of Right. Inken is an associate member of the Zurich Epistemology Group on Rationality (Zegra).
