Projects in the research focus

European Research Network on the Role of Universities in Society (ERNoCRU)
(Cooperation project with the Universities of Leuven, Nijmegen, Stirling, Helsinki and Warsaw)

It is now widely recognized that the emerging European knowledge society poses new challenges for universities. This project focuses in particular on the challenges concerning the civic and public role of the university and the integration of this role into academic education, taking into account the different research perspectives as well as the differences between member states. The aim is to arrive at a reflective and innovative understanding of these issues, to inform academics and policymakers, and to stimulate a relevant and well-informed debate.
