During the studies in the B.A.

An overview of our Educational Science programme

The broad-based basic study programme in Educational Science (B. A.) initially provides a theoretical foundation and basic methodological expertise in five basic modules, which are linked to forms of pedagogical action from the very beginning. These modules are compulsory for all students.

In the second half of the B.A. programme, these basics are deepened in the advanced modules. With options to choose between general and historical-systematic educational science, learning psychology and sociology of education, an individual focus can be set here.

In the fourth module, which is compulsory for all students, there is a link to learning with digital media, the places, practices and settings of learning across the entire lifespan.

The programme of study in the subject is supplemented by the modules in the optional area. The Optionalbereich is an interdisciplinary institution of the Ruhr-Uni for the teaching of key competencies. This means that students from all subjects come together here to learn together. In the range of courses offered, you can choose between eight different profiles in order to pursue individual interests and set personal focal points. For students with the career goal of becoming a teacher, there is a separate "profile teaching profession".
